From 1983 ... to the present... and beyond

• We have and are currently working to exposed the truth about vivisection through presentations at libraries and other public forums;

• We are intensely working to protect black bears permanently by NJARA's comprehensive educational campaign which has reached out to the 8 million New Jersey residents about the nature of black bears, how to peacefully coexist with them and how to prevent them from being hunted and killed;
• Through NJARA 2000, we have united and continue to unite organizations and individuals throughout the region working on campaigns to pool resources and to utilize our monthly NJARActivator whenever possible to disseminate information across this region of activism;
• We have exercised our first amendment right to peaceful assembly and have protested at more than 1,000 sites and events that promote animal cruelty, abuse and exploitation;
• NJARA has attended more than 10,000 events staffing tables, distributing literature, and answering questions; (ongoing)


• Filed a precedent-setting lawsuit, along with other plaintiffs, challenging the authority of New Jersey's Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife to hunt in public parks;


• In 1989, NJARA initiated a Veterinary Assistance Program that has helped more than 150 animals who may have died because they were strays or their guardians could not afford to pay for their veterinary care; (ongoing)


• Launched a successful campaign to close down the infamous and cruel high-diving mule act at the Atlantic City Pier in New Jersey; (Victory!)


• Hosts an Animal Rights Festival, which includes displays, workshops, a cooking class, and freshly prepared food. This event invites the public to learn more about the plight of animals and affords activists the opportunity to network and reaffirm their commitment to the animals; (ongoing)


• Through our Companionless Animal column in the NJARActivator, our monthly newsletter, we have helped place hundreds of animals, who might not otherwise have found homes. (ongoing)


• Protested and was instrumental in the closing of, a New Jersey zoo noted for its cruel confinement and harsh treatment of animals. All animals were placed in accredited facilities; (Victory!)
• NJARA attends the annual New Jersey Education Association conference during which thousands of teachers can obtain information about dissection alternatives, compassionate class trips, and humane science projects; (ongoing)
